Notice the contrast "dimple" above the third black spot. Once you find the
surface defect project downwards at an angle of about 30 degrees and to the
right (the solar angle at 4 pm) to the black spot on the far right hand side of
the picture. Once you have found one correlation you can find all of the other
dimples that project into the other black spots. The fact that the oblique
projection yields a circle (and therefor is conformal) is a clue that the
surface dimple is related to a minimal surface. The actual surface dimple
depression is about 2 mm (but is highly contrast distorted in the photo). The
black spots on the bottom of the pool are about 10 cm in diameter. The pool
depth is about 30 cm.
