Recent experiments by Kuibin and Okulov on an open turbulent flow lend credence
to the concept that turbulent flows and other irreversible evolutionary
processes reside on a space of topological dimension greater than 3.
Remarkably, at the 1997 SIMFLO conference in Copenhagen, a prediction was made
that helical vortex defect lines would be indicators of a turbulent irreversible
process. Remarkably the day the Russian experimenters presented evidence that
seemed to corraborate the prediction.
